From the Community: Kinsey Cook

Hello, Talking River Review newsletter subscribers! My name is Kinsey Cook, and this spring is my second semester interning at TRR. I started fall of 2025, and I plan to continue until I graduate in 2027, with a major in graphic communications and with minors in art and publishing arts.

My roles at TRR so far have included, being a part of the weekly newsletter and social media team. This spring I will be mentored by our Senior graphic designer TRR staff, Baeli Kinsley, to design our spring 2026 issue, in hopes to take on her legacy as graphic designer of Talking River Review next semester when she is graduated.

Creativity is a big part of my life, and when brainstorming this newsletter feature, I wanted to create an open space where people from our community could be given a chance to display many forms of creativity, regardless of if it being written work or not.

Below is a ceramic piece I completed fall 25, in Kelsey Grafton’s Ceramics I class. Our instructions were to create a form using our recent practice with coil building. I decided to create a two-tear jewelry tray, the two bases of the trays being built with slabs, while the sides and separation tear were built using coils.
